Over the last couple of years I have been gradually gaining more confidence to step out and start speaking in public. It has been a bit of a rocky start, with gigs being cancelled for various reasons. Anyway I have been able to use the delayed start date by getting my material together, what will I say to the audience, how will I deliver it?

This has been a very interesting question I have asked myself as I really need to be flexible in the material I present to each group. It's kind of like being able to take a formal suit and tone it down by removing the trousers and wearing jeans instead. I feel that it could help to shift the energy from being too rigid and allowing a bit more freedom to move through the time I am in front of people.

It recently dawned on me again that timing is everything, and if I try to force things they just get stuck! I can head into the realms of mental overload and get to tricksy with myself. The biggest aha moment came when I started to work with essences to help me with being confident and comfortable up there in front of those unknown people. I realised that there is a story inside me that I know very well and it was suddenly really easy to access in a universal way. This universal delivery has the potential to open pathways for others to easily connect with.

Oh heck, this is massive! For years I have been trying to figure out what and how to do this. I have had some encouragement from speaking mentors, who have given me tips and pointers, but I just could not manage to bring it all together until recently.

This got me thinking back to all those times when I had been asked to share something with a group and my mouth would not open! I turned into a possum in the headlights. Thank goodness things have changed, thank goodness for First Light® and the wonderful support that is available to build strong foundations and to bring forward the universal story that is to be shared.

Recently it occurred to me to spread the word that I also work with animals, this then meant that I needed to create a flyer to hand out to people. After the initial attempt at creating from an existing template, proofing and printing I received something that I felt had the wrong text colour and would not attract the attention of those it was directed to. A quick outline with a black sharpie did the trick and so I put them out on display.

Instantly the stall holder next to me said 'Oh maybe you can help my Kitty'. It turned out that Kitty (is no youngster) he had developed blisters on his feet and was unable to walk far, kept falling over, was sad, irritable and did not want to go to the vets!

After careful consideration of Kitty's situation I came up with a remedy for him from my New Zealand Native Flower medicine chest and gave this to Kitty's owner.

A few days later I received a phone call whilst working underneath a Native Broadleaf tree, to my surprise it was the stall holder. She was so happy and wanted to share the almost instant recovery Kitty had experienced. She excitedly told me of how Kitty sits at his drink bowl and waits for his drops, he licks it all up and then proceeds to clean his feet and then go about what cats do. He is back on his feet!

What a fabulous outcome and a very heart felt opportunity to help a distressed animal.

It has been three weeks since we stepped out and did something really big! Things have really stepped up for La Caravanna Sacred Plant Medicine, we were delighted to be invited to bring our still to Dig It Community Garden in Royal Oak with the intention of distilling some essential oil and making floral waters.

It was a perfect day and the venue was stunning, the background was lush and full of all kinds of fruit trees, veges and bees. We had to be careful with all of our equipment to make sure that we did not have bees trapped anywhere, they were incredibly interested in what Aleish Hall and I were up to.

The Community Garden was set up by Victoria Barret, hats off to you Victoria for a wonderful venue and a successful event. There were ten people who attended and from the feedback everyone had a fabulous time.

Plants that we worked with were Buddah's Hand and Lemon Verbena, such an honour to be able to work with the Buddah's Hand, I had never seen this citrus tree before, so it was an all new process for distilling it. We were gifted enough essential oil from the fruits to give everyone a small vial to take home, a rich citrus aromatic. The plants botanical name reflects its magic Citrus medica var. sarcodactylis otherwise known as Citron.

Lemon Verbena Aloysia citrodora gifted us a really beautiful hydrosol which filled the venue space with the delicious aroma she has to offer.

All in all it was a fabulous day, everyone was able to take home some goodies including us with fresh produce from the Dig It Community Garden.

Sometimes I totally astonish myself with how easily things move and evolve. Well it is not really that surprising. I do have a wealth of experience that does allow me to engage in and complete many things. I often wonder if there are others out there in the world who want to engage in their projects and get them on the road to completion and to be able to pull things together without tearing their hair out. If that is you, perhaps we could have a conversation about it and get you sorted.

It has been a joy to create this new website, there may be a few glitches once it goes live, I doubt that things like this will be perfect straight away. At least I know that I have many dear friends that can support me in all of my efforts and I am eternally grateful for that.

This new website will allow people to see what is coming up and be able to book online for classes, workshops, gatherings and for private consultations. It will allow me to write blogs about what is new and exciting in my world of discovery. I invite you to jump on the magic carpet and enjoy the ride.
